| The Soros Educational Center located in the heart of the majestic Carpathian mountains has become a special actor in the development of Harghita county. The county being an impressive comer of Transylvania, filled with history, a picturesque alpine landscape, a unique culture and fascinating people. Nonethless, while rich in many things, the region has been hit hard economically from its communist past as in the rest of Eastern Europe and falls behind the West in many ways. As one can imagine, the needs of the local community are great. Yet time to be proactive is today. |
